Children’s Books with Letter “Qu” in the Title

When we were visiting an elementary school in Michigan’s Chippewa Valley School district for March is Reading Month, we were greeted by an especially enthusiastic preschool teacher. She and her students LOVED A Pirate’s Quest, especially because the book features the letters “qu” so often, even in the title! She was talking about learning that the letters “q” and “u” go together, and she likes to read books to her class about that idea. Certainly there is a story about the “q” and “u” getting married and sticking together. But our pirate book was a nice addition. On the cover of the book, the pirate is actually using his hook to pull on the letter “Q” in “Quest” which gives even more emphasis to that letter “Q” that makes Scrabble players sweat.

She said the kids also loved yelling “Yarrrrrrrr!” and talking like pirates while she read the book.

I hadn’t thought about how much we use the word “quest” in our story. But the pirate constantly repeats his vow “I vow that I will never give up. I’ll never stop me quest! Until I find that beautiful leg I promise not to rest!” So if you are looking for a children’s book that features the “qu” pairing a lot, try A Pirate’s Quest.
